Complimentary Connection Call

Although not mandatory for initiating physiotherapy services, the parent consultation call is an opportunity for you as parents to speak with your child's physiotherapist and share your child’s background, strengths, challenges, and any specific concerns you have. It also gives you an opportunity to ask specific questions and share concerns that you may not want to share in front of your child. 

Your child does not need to be present for this appointment. It is a phone call appointment with parent(s) only.

Parent Consultation Call

Our first physiotherapy session is a relaxed and welcoming experience designed to help us get to know your child in a comfortable, low-pressure environment. Through movement-based play and gentle observation, we explore how your child moves, plays, and interacts with their surroundings.

Using a range of age-appropriate assessment tools and activities, we gain insight into their motor skills, strength, coordination, balance, and posture. This holistic approach allows us to identify areas of strength and challenge, understand the root of any concerns, and develop thoughtful recommendations to support your child’s physical development and confidence in movement.

Parents are always welcome to be present during sessions if the child would like them to be. At Sapling, we honour both the child’s and the parents’ preferences, and the decision to have a parent in the room is completely flexible—it can be made at the start of any appointment or even decided spontaneously during a session.

First Visit

Our follow-up physiotherapy sessions provide ongoing support tailored to your child’s developmental goals and your family’s evolving needs. Building on the insights gathered during the initial assessment, each session focuses on targeted strategies to support your child’s motor development, improve movement patterns, and build strength and confidence.

Through movement-based play and hands-on techniques, we integrate engaging, age-appropriate activities with evidence-informed physiotherapy approaches. Sessions are responsive and adaptable, ensuring your child feels motivated, supported, and empowered as they grow and progress.

Parents are always welcome to be present during sessions if the child would like them to be. **Please note that a First Visit (Initial Assessment) must be booked prior to booking Follow-Up Appointments. Your physiotherapist will help you determine the frequency and length of Follow-Up Appointments needed to best support you and your child.

Our physiotherapy parent support sessions offer guidance and strategies tailored to your child’s physical development and your family’s unique needs. Whether you're seeking practical tools to support motor skills at home, a better understanding of your child’s movement challenges, or a space to ask questions, these sessions are designed to empower you. Together, we’ll explore supportive approaches that promote your child’s growth, independence, and your confidence in helping them thrive.

Our professional consultation sessions offer specialized guidance for educators, therapists, and other professionals seeking support with a child’s development. Whether you need insights on specific challenges, collaborative problem-solving, or recommendations for strategies and accommodations, we provide expert input tailored to your needs. These sessions create a space for discussion, learning, and professional growth.

Please speak to your therapist about scheduling one of these sessions with your child's educators or other professionals within their circle of care.

Professional Consultation Session (Virtual/Phone)

Home visits can be a valuable way to support your child’s physical development in their natural environment, offering insight into daily routines, movement patterns, and real-time challenges. These sessions may focus on motor skill development, strength and coordination, postural support, equipment use, or practical strategies to help your child move with greater ease and confidence at home.

That said, home visits are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not always the most suitable option—particularly for neurodivergent children, for whom the home is often a protected and calming space. Introducing therapy into this environment can be overwhelming for some. If you are interested in a home visit, please speak with your therapist first. We take great care to ensure your child feels safe and supported, and we prioritize building a trusting therapeutic rapport before entering your family’s space.

While we understand that travel can be a challenge, coming to the clinic often provides a more consistent and structured environment, and allows us to serve more families within our community. Together, we’ll determine the best setting for your child’s therapy journey.

Home Visit

School visits can provide valuable insight into your child’s movement and participation within their learning environment. These visits allow us to observe classroom and playground dynamics, assess motor skills in real-life settings, and collaborate with educators to support your child’s success. Sessions may involve observation, consultation with school staff, or direct support focused on posture, balance, coordination, mobility, or participation in physical activities.

If you are interested in having your child’s physiotherapist observe or provide services at school, we encourage you to speak with your therapist and your child’s school early in the process. School visits require the school’s explicit consent, and many schools have specific policies and paperwork that must be completed before a visit can be approved. This process can take time, so early communication helps ensure a smooth and collaborative approach.

Our goal is to work as part of your child’s broader support team—helping them feel confident, capable, and supported in the spaces where they learn and grow.

Additional travel fees may apply.

School Visit

Sometimes, supporting your child’s care involves work outside of direct therapy sessions—such as writing progress reports, preparing letters for schools or healthcare providers, or engaging in extended phone or email communication. When these tasks take more than 10 minutes, they are billed at $40 per 15-minute increment.

We track time in 15-minute units to ensure you are only billed for the work required. This rate also applies if a therapy session runs longer than the scheduled time due to your child’s needs. We take care to use this time efficiently so that every minute spent directly benefits your child’s progress and support plan.
